Architectonic space is social space.
Architectonic space and its furnishing also relate to the social dimensions of body space. The social dimensions can be categorised as intimate, personal, social and public – according to the spatial distance we maintain to others and our corresponding perceptions of them. The sensation and handling of these distances is affected by cultural as well as personal habits and differs accordingly from culture to culture and person to person. Architectonic spaces that account for the social dimensions can have a stimulating effect on the relationships that we maintain within them.
