affordances

Architectonic spaces stage affordances.

What we perceive in our surroundings at first glance are not primarily their abstract properties but the affordances they provide. Architectonic space is conceived as a scenic proposal to the body and invites to movement and manifold use. It engenders action and thereby welcomes its users to relate psychologically, socially and culturally to each other and the surrounding. Architectonic space sets the stage for opportunities of action and is thereby invested in the arousal of people’s attention, into what moves them.

> social space

< what moves us.
